Tenth Avenue North is a band from Florida that plays contemporary Christian music. They got their name from a road in city where they live, Palm Beach County. The band was formed while the members attending the Palm Beach Atlantic University. The group consists of Mike Donehey as the acoustic guitarist and also lead vocals, Jeff Owen as electric guitarist and also backup vocals, and Ruben Juarez III as the bassist and also backup vocals, and also Jason Jamison as the drummer.
They already released 3 albums that published independently and also an Extended Play record before they signed with a major recording label. Their first album in major records titled ‘Over and Underneath’ recorded on Reunion Records and released on May 2008. Soon after its first album release, they start a tour promoting the album. Their single ‘Love is Here’ scored a hit in the Top 20 of Contemporary Christian songs chart, and peaked at number 3 on June 2008. It stayed forty-eight weeks on the Christian Song chart of the Billboard, and peaked at then number 2. The single won the Song of the Year award at the 41st GMA DOve Award in April of 2010. The next single titled ‘Hold My Heart’ was released in 2009 and stayed for forty-for weeks on the Christian Musics chart and peaked at the number 4.
Tenth Avenue North next album titled ‘The Light Meets the Dark’ released on May 2010 and the first single of that new album titled ‘Healing Begins’ was released in the same month, quickly hit the chart and stayed for twenty-nine weeks on the Christian Musics chart of the Billboard. In May 2010, they played at the First Baptist Church located in West Palm Beach to promote their new album that released shortly before.
Tenth Avenue North had a tour with Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band, and MercyMe shortly after that and marked their own headlines throughout the U.S. Shortly after that, in the 40th GMA Dove Awards in the April of 2009, they won the award of ‘New Artist of the Year’.
On March 2011 they released their new live album that features various video footage of their concerts and also live-show versions of their biggest single titled ‘Tenth Avenue North Live: Inside and In Between’.
On February 2011, they announced to their fans via band’s electronic newsletter that the band are busy writing several new songs for their next album that planned to be released in the mid of 2012.
