Wait for You

I met the Master Teacher in the obstinate phase of my life; he was a peer, being only 2 years older. He was blessed with the confidence of ten men, a heady imagination, and strong reasoning abilities. In this way, I repressed my incredulousness, and allowed myself to learn from the Teacher. All that I had learned before was not scrutinized or meet with skepticism. He thought me to think outside the popular and establish a positive attitude. To think deliberately, he said was the key to a fulfilled existence…

I had never seen the Teacher despondent but seeing him after that summer he worked as a colporteur, he looked gutted. While other students were out leisurely enjoying their summer break he walked 5 to 10 miles daily, sharing The Seventh Day Adventist literature on the colporteur program. This was to ensure that he had the funds to continue his studies. Set upon by dogs, doors slammed in his face and verbally abused; his face showed the same contours of integrity, strength, and honor on every encounter. It was with this countenance that he approached an individualist, who is a religious studies historian by education.

The historian bought some of his books but also planted seeds of doubt in his mind. He was informed of the historical origin of his religious denomination and told he was part of a cult (see Millerism). This encounter was almost deleterious to his faith, yet has become part of his testimony, and having shared it with me, it became the inspiration for this song. I have seen the vicissitudes of his life and faith, more being a brother and mentee, I have experienced them.

I was also there when he glanced at a mirror and saw the reflection of his name tag reading back “LEGIN” pronounced legend and heard his conscience as it is implored to live by faith. Today the legend of Jesus Christ informs his attitude; he is obsequious to the risen Savior and Waits on His return.

In honor of the living Master Teacher, Sir. Nigel Ferdinand “Legin” Schultz
I also submit this song for those of you who are struggling with your faith and plead with you to wait on the Lord, as this renews strength Isaiah 40:31.
